Information Security Engineer

PRINCETON , New Jersey


The MIAX Options Exchange is seeking a strong Information Security Engineer for its Princeton, NJ office.  The successful candidate will have the ability to learn and implement cutting edge technology as well as the ability to work in both an individual and group environment. The candidate will serve as an expert resource to the various network, application and infrastructure teams who support the MIAX trading platform and will be a direct report to the Chief Security Officer. This position requires a highly motivated individual who will relish working in a true startup environment.

Organizational Structure

Information Security Engineer will report directly to the Chief Security Officer.

Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of information systems security concepts, technologies, best practices, and procedures
  • Experience with intrusion detection systems and web application firewalls
  • Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) tools
  • Experience with EnCase Enterprise
  • Experience with incident response and vulnerability management
  • Ability to perform root cause forensics investigations
  • Experience using vulnerability and penetration test tools
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows client/server, Unix/Linux systems, and VMware
  • Advanced understanding of TCP/IP and common network protocols
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing requirements

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or a related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training or work/military experience.
  • 5+ years' of information security experience
  • Forensic investigation and Legal Hold and Discovery experience strongly preferred 
  • Experience in design and implementation in firewalls, DNS, IDS/IPS, anti-virus, content filtering, data loss prevention, endpoint security, email security, work vulnerability scanning, incident management and disk encryption technologies
  • Experience in a regulated (Financial, Pharmaceutical, Health Care) industry is highly desired
  • Candidate must possess one or more of the following certifications:

Systems Specialist/Systems Operator

PRINCETON , New Jersey
The MIAX Systems Specialist/Systems Operator is responsible for managing the successful technical operation of the Exchange’s production trading and back office systems.  This person will work very closely with the Trading Systems Help Desk, Software Development, the Business Strategy Group and the Exchange’s customer base.  

Major areas of responsibility are:
 
  • Operating and monitoring the Options Trading and Back Office production software applications for the MIAX Options Exchange; A mission critical, high volume, real-time transaction processing environment.
  • Operating and monitoring of production server hardware, networking and data center environmental’s to ensure efficient system operation.
  • Participate in managing the change control process, implementation and fallback planning, business continuity planning and supporting periodic User Acceptance Testing.  
  • Providing, managing and facilitating customer service and technical support for functional testing, connectivity, configuration and troubleshooting. 
Organizational Structure

The Systems Specialist will report directly to the Director of System Operations.

Qualifications
  • Working experience of command, control and monitoring of production systems.
  • Strong knowledge of the LINUX command line interface.
  • Basic Linux scripting skills a must.
  • Knowledge of system operation best practices.
  • Good troubleshooting skills and excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Good knowledge of communications protocols such as TCP/IP, Multicast and UDP.
  • Knowledge of FIX session management and the OPRA, CTS & UTP market data feed protocols a plus.
  • Some knowledge of advanced scripting languages such as Python or Perl a plus 
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel a plus.
  • Knowledge of using a job scheduler/workload automation application like TIDAL a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual or within a team.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT/Computer Science.
  • 5+ years of experience as a technical operator in a real-time systems environment.
  • 3+ years of working in operations or support in a trading systems environment a plus.
  • Knowledge of equity or options products is a plus.

Senior Network Engineer

PRINCETON , New Jersey
The MIAX Options Exchange is currently seeking a Sr. Network Engineer to become a member of a highly experienced team that works with leading-edge technology to provide innovative solutions to business challenges in the financial services industry.  The MIAX Sr. Network Engineer provides thought leadership, thorough, accurate and diligent design, deployment and operational expertise in a highly regulated, compliance-based environment.  The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong problem-solving ability and a high degree of professionalism by multitasking and participating in a vigorous, enthusiastic cross-matrix, team-based multivendor environment.  
 
Responsibilities encompass building and supporting optimized infrastructure, evaluating new technologies, short and long term project work and continually driving improvements in performance to support exchange based trading platforms and back office business intelligence, clearing and settlement systems.  

Key responsibilities include:
 
  • Design high performance infrastructure solutions tailored to in-house developed application requirements
  • Engineer, configure, test, benchmark and document proof-of-concept architectures, configurations, migration strategies 
    and product evaluations including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs and other information technology products in
    a multi-vendor, multi-protocol environment
  • Comprehend the MIAX Enterprise Risk Management Program and incorporate internal control framework in network design
    methodology to facilitate/meet appropriate infrastructure access, capacity and recovery requirements and business continuity objectives
  • Work with teammates to drive the design and deployment of data center, network and security infrastructure
  • Understand and follow change management and operational policies/procedures and promote adherence to same
  • Provide mentoring and technical knowledge needed to ensure safe, effective and efficient changes to the MIAX infrastructure
  • Assist with development of policies and procedures for maintenance of network infrastructure
  • Employ automation to improve productivity, workflow and technology deployment
Organizational Structure

The Senior Network Engineer will report to the Network System Integration management team.

Qualifications
  • Deep understanding of the TCP/IP protocol suite with highly developed knowledge of IP networking and OSPF and BGP routing skills
  • Comprehensive IP multicast design experience including practical troubleshooting of IGMP and PIM protocols
  • Familiarity with IP address allocation/administration, advanced techniques of policy based routing and application;
     VLSM, CIDR, NAT, route redistribution, route maps/ACLs and routing policies
  •  Adept packet capture/decode analysis skills and ability to assess network, protocol and application performance
  • Conveys sense of urgency and can differentiate between critical business impacting incident or minor non-service affecting issue.  Resolves/escalates accordingly, assumes ownership and follows workaround with permanent solution.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently on multiple projects that also works well with teammates, shares knowledge and is seen as someone to go to for help.
  • Clearly expresses accurate verbal and written communication, listens effectively, follows directions and provides useful feedback
  • Ability and willingness to perform critical strategy and design work from inception all the way through fruition including hands-on implementation
Education and Experience
  • Design and support of large transaction infrastructure; financial or HFT network is a plus
  • Prior experience working in a high performance, low-latency network environment
  • Knowledge of financial markets, market data and real-time feed dissemination
  • CCNP or CCIE Certification desirable or equivalent Cisco or Juniper experience
  • Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer Science or equivalent relative experience
  • Experience in Cisco or Juniper XML API is a plus
  • Experience in Perl or Python network based scripting is a plus
